State Dem Convention results put two on Treasurer ballot and three on Auditor

The results from the state Democratic Convention being held today in Worcester are in, according to Boston.com and twitter feeds (hash tag: #madem10).

As expected, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor received enough votes to put them on the ballot (at least 15 percent) and receive the endorsement of the party (25 percent).

In the race for State Treasurer, Steve Grossman earned their endorsement by receiving more than 50 percent of the delegates' votes while Boston City Councilor-At-Large Steve Murphy made it to September's ballot with 15.6 percent of the votes.

The state auditor race is considered a hot one after Joe DeNucci announced his decision to retire (after ten years). Suzanne Bump, Guy Glodis, and Michael Lake all made it on the ballot. The rumor in the twittershere is that Glodis instructed some of his supporters to vote for Lake, thereby assuring his place on the ballot and potentially splitting the "progressive" vote between him and Bump, in September.

On Friday, Howie Carr was playing the robo-call endorsement that Deval did for Diane Wilkerson in '08. That was the same day that Bunomo, currently doing a bit in the Billerica House of Correction (along with Anthony Gallucio) for stealing quarters from copy machines, was re-awarded his $38K/year pension.

And what's the current status of "Touch my Willie" Marzilli? Sal DiMasi's trial for accepting about $65K in bribes is scheduled for the fall. And is Chuck Turner a Democrat today, or has that changed?

On the plus side for the Democrats yesterday, Marian Walsh was nowhere to be seen.

This one is going to be like Silber/Weld. Either way you go, it's going to be hard to live with yourself after. We live in the Louisiana of the North East.

The rumor in the twittershere is that Glodis instructed some of his supporters to vote for Lake, thereby assuring his place on the ballot and potentially splitting the "progressive" vote between him and Bump, in September.

The problem with this theory is that Bump ended up beating Glodis, Glodis failed to secure the endorsement and Mike Lake did much better then expected. The air of inevitability for Glodis is now gone which can not be a good thing for someone who is not all that inspiring. Many people were supporting Glodis because Glodis was going to win.

I just spoke to a Lake person and they said that was bull about Glodis throwing his support. I think many dems are turned off my glodis who is on-record as a homo-phobe. he may wear it like a badge of courage but times have changed. there isn't a person in this state who doesn't have a son, daughter, friend or co-worker who is gay. anyone who demonizes them should hang up their campaign signs.

my other question, is murphy done and should he drop out given he just made it on and grossman got 80% of the vote?

btw: murphy and glodis could have been brothers...
