Egleston Square was a "cyber" Y meaning that they didn't have a gym. They had a computer lab but (as of a couple of years ago) their staff and youth programs didn't seem particularly impressive.

The stimulus package is paying out hundreds of millions of dollars for public computing centers, including a few million for Boston, but it's pretty clear that just having a room with computers is lame if you don't spend the money on innovative staff who can push kids into doing cool things. Otherwise you just have a space for kids to spend time on facebook.

That is typical of the YMCA. They do not put money into staff and developing programming, and the result is a room full of teens messaging each other and not much else. When the room isn't locked and empty, that is.
