A Near Futuristic Dystopian CD Release brunch lands at the Burren on Sunday, May 22
The Unreliable Narrator Theater Group and The Pluto Tapes are hosting a CD release party for the cast album of 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical! on Sunday, May 22 at The Burren, located at 247 Elm St, Somerville, MA at 3 PM.
Featuring local artists Kamela Dolinova, Emily Taradash, Julia Lunetta, Timothy Hoover, John Deschene, Kay Coughlin, Katie Drexel, Ginger Lazarus, and Will Todisco, the cast album features all of the songs from the hit cyberpunk musical comedy 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical!, ranging from whimsical (“Doing The Best That I Can”), to the grooving (“Bangor Boogie”) to the memorable and uplifting (“The Future’s Not What It Used To Be”). Joining them are local artists electronic violinist Mei Ohara (fresh from performing at the Unreliable Narrator Showcase), the cyberpunk band Br1ght Pr1mate, and the Pluto Tapes.
The cast of 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical! will also perform songs from the album.
"We are gobsmacked at the notion that we went from a crazy idea almost a year ago to releasing a cast album,” said Carl Danielson, Artistic Director and co-producer of 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical. "The response to the show has been amazing-which is not surprising because of our amazing cast. We are thrilled to be able to take this show to other places where the audience can experience the magic that happens when the cast takes to the stage.”
The CD release party also marks the launch of the tour of 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical!, which begins with July 28 & 29 performances at Club Oberon in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Tickets are $15.00 at the door. CDs and other merchandise will also be available.

The Pluto Tapes is a 21st century one-man band and the stage name for Boston-area musician and producer Andy Hicks. Hicks, who has been performing, writing, and playing music since he was young, is also an actor, director, sound designer, radio producer, and lover of old technology and the early computer-age/cyberpunk aesthetic, all of which inspired the music and themes of this show. 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical! is his first full-length musical, though he wrote and performed the music for PMRP’s (Post-Meridian Radio Players) The Tell-Tale Heart and Cambridge Public School's Bocon! He has directed and appeared in several local productions. The Pluto Tapes recorded an album that was released in 2007. Entitled Dead Planets Tell No Tales, it's a catchy, indie-pop exploration of love in the 21st century, suburban ennui, American history, and Catholic guilt. It is available on iTunes and at http://reverbnation.com/theplutotapes.
