As the writer notes, it certainly says a lot about Pesky's legacy that Clemens, among so many others, paid tribute. That Clemens would brave the possibility of a resounding chorus of boos, in order to do his bit for the memorial, says something better about Clemens than I would have given him credit for.
Interesting question, though - Who invited Roger? Pesky's family? One of the other speakers? Or was it Sox brass? If Sox brass, could it be part of an attempt to again ingratiate him to his former fanbase in preparation for some future return? I know it's not polite to indulge in conspiracy theory considering the circumstances, but I can't help wondering.
