PETA fnords up Fenway with one of those stupid bricks
Turns out PETA helped the Red Sox bottom line by buying one of those 100th-anniversary bricks. Only the crafty animal righters report their brick has a subliminal message in it that will convince Bostonians to stop eating lobsters:
Lead Our Bo Sox To Early Runs! Late Inning Blasts! Easy Routs! A Trophy In Our Name!
If you take the first letter of each word, you get "LOBSTER LIBERATION."
PETA hopes its message will encourage Boston residents to skip cruelly produced lobster dishes in favor of vegetarian meals, such as the veggie dogs and meatless burritos available at Fenway's concession stands. PETA's brick has been placed in the concourse Gate C, Jim Rice Section 7.
PETA did not specify if they bought one of the $250 bricks or one of the larger $475 models.

Must have been one of the larger ones
I bought one of the bricks as a gift for my parents last year, I don't recall specifically the character counts allowed but I know I came within one or two of maxing out every line. There's no way that whole message would fit on one of the smaller bricks.
Jokes on PETA...I've never really seen anyone read the bricks other than to find their own and maybe check out their "neighbors." Certainly not many are going to be analyzing them for some sort of subliminal message.
jokes on you
The point is obviously not to have people find the brick, it was to announce they did this and have the media play up the story, and people go to comment forums and talk about it.
No, the joke's on them
Because a) The most common reaction is going to be "Mmm, lobster!" and b) How often do I get to use the word "fnord" in a story? Not nearly often enough.
"Mmm, lobster!"
Was exactly my reaction. It'd take a lot more than a seekrit message to put me off lobster.
Yup
and with wholesale Prices hovering around $4/lbs, I think a trip to James Hook is in order tonight!
Yum! I love me some Seabugs!
Exactly, unless you come 2
Exactly, unless you come 2 hours early to the game, nobody ever looks at the bricks. If you did try to stop and look at them you'd get run down by a family of 4 from the suburbs trying to race to their Lexus SUV in the parking lot at the end of the game.

Or...
...or, run down by some hipster city dude composing some self-absorbed tweet on his iPhone - "on my way to for some !"
Really, who cares?
Sub-Headline:
"PETA wastes donor funds on a message no one will see or understand."
Fnord
Haven't heard "fnord" since high school, lo these 20 years ago. Thanks for the memories...
I see the fnords!

It will be easy to find
Just look for the brick with all the hot dogs dumped on it at any game I go to.

False flag?
Speaking as someone who is sympathetic to the general beliefs of PETA (though not a vegetarian myself), I have to say: there's no way the PETA of the last decade is anything but a false-flag operation by the right. No way. No group of activists, anywhere, advocating for anything, could possibly be so tone deaf. If they were genuine, they'd be their own worst enemies. Everything they do is so shrill and ill-considered that it drives support directly into the opposite camp.
That's Myopic
I'm fairly certain people's skill and intelligence in any given matter are *not* dependent on their political orientation. Trust me, activists on the Left can be just as stupid as anyone else.
(For example, let's consider the former antics of "Act Out," who tried to gain public sympathy for their plight via invading Church services. Yes, brilliant.)
WAY too much partisan politics invading every topic nowadays.
How about Gisele & friends naked instead?
Rather than a hidden message on a brick, Gisele Buendchen (+ husband Tom for greater appeal) and some supermodel friends naked would get the message out far and wide. Just watch the claws.
taking things a bit too seriously, aren't we?
Quite frankly, I don't give a damn. Wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't shown up on Uhub or caused a faux controversy on Fox25 nightly news. People need to lighten up. The whole idea of 'lobster liberation' is kind of amusing.
