Met a DOT bridge engineer at a party who said it is unsafe and won't drive over it himself. I now follow the same logic. It is shame how our infrastructure hasn't been maintained at a safe level.
Mass Ave is like a valley slow to access between Rt 2 and I-93. Arlington, like Cambridge has only removed road capacity since 1971 when Rt. 2 was widened.

Your inability to navigate in the Boston area may have a lot less to do with your perceived lack of high speed multi-lane roadways and a lot more to do with your lacking understanding of local geography.
Well if the state hadn't overbuilt an necessary highway overpass on top of a PARKway, to suit the needs of suburbanites and give the finger to local residents, this wouldn't be an issue right now.
I agree. I cant stand these people that waltzed into our city and decided that they know whats best for me. these god damned turkey baster baby making whole food shoppers need to leave now!
Every time anyone proposes a solution for the Casey that reduces the traffic capacity in the area, people get the vapors and protest as if it will bring on the apocalypse.
Yet if the DOT ever throws in the towel and closes the overpass altogether, I bet the traffic situation will resolve itself without any fuss.
Slower than the ridiculous 5 mph people already drive on the overpass like they're in a Sunday parade? If the City is going to keep this thing standing and open to traffic, they need to at least do some minimal maintenance so that people aren't driving over exposed metal and other hazards. People with flat tires are going to be the least of the problems if the bridge isn't either maintained to some minimal safety standards or closed.
That is going to be the average rate through Forrest Hills with accompanying gridlock when the surface solution come to town. NIMBY win for locals. FU to the residents of Mattapan who want to get to work in Longwood or the universities.
I bet you'd be complaining if some other neighborhood wanted to turn Mattapan into a highway so they could drive to work faster. How selfish of you to want some other community to get fucked over for your convenience as long as you get yours and face no consequences.

Mass Ave in Arlington goes no where near I-93.

That's why I avoid Arlington.

The problem is easy to fix...
I cross that bridge a couple times a week. I've never had a flat or even a hard bump. Want to know the secret? Slow the f@€k down! Stupid Massholes.
