Because it will lead to massive abuse of the welfare system and more women are still in this day and age forced into marriages into marriages than anyone wants to admit.

I know a couple of polyamorous couples and they all are consenting adults with well paying jobs so please, enough with the cliches about bigamy.

I would think that welfare would be harder to get for a three person married household than a two person married + one single person household. The single person (or persons) is usually the one who collects. Besides, why are we assuming that bigamists want welfare?

About the forced marriages, I think you're thinking of a specific segment of the population and no, I don't support that. That is a horrible way of life that shows little regard for women.

The poly couples I know, who might or might not marry if it were legal, are in their 30s and 40s and no one is forcing them to do anything.

I didn't realize the extent of their personal connections to Menino. They are a little too touchy feely for my tastes. Glad to see Menino celebrating, he's always been a friend to the LGBT community in Boston.
