By adamg on Mon, 01/28/2013 - 7:44am
The 6:30 a.m. inbound train died. As of 9 a.m., it still hadn't made it into Boston.

Oh that's what happened?
I was on the 6:44 out of Rockport - a train that usually goes express after Salem. This morning we made every stop making the train 1) nearly unbearably packed and 2) almost 20 minutes late. Which, whatever. But the conductors did not make any announcement about what was happening, why we were stopping at every stop, why we were late, etc. Also, the train was so packed they couldn't collect fares... Mechanical failures happen (too frequently on the MBTA, but we know why); the employee training and compliance is a bigger issue for frequent commuters, I think.
