Allston/Brighton power goes off, comes back on

Power out on Western Avenue

Powerless Western Avenue. Photo by Ari Ofsevit.

Around 7:30 p.m., Rose sent out an urgent plea:

All of lower Allston just went dark! Send beer and pizza.

Soon, other residents of Allston and Brighton were checking in - via 4G rather than WiFi - of a sudden absence of electricity in the area.

By 9 p.m., power was coming back to most of the area, although some spots near Market Street remained dark until 9:30.

It's the latest ploy for housing stabilization: turning AB off and then back on again.

only options really are comcast or verizon. Just easier to reboot everyone's modems at the same time than the constant on/off we have to do all the time.

I know. I had RCN when I lived in AB.

and its really dark. Be careful at intersection because without lights its difficult to know who has right of way. With all the streets converging there its beyond a 4-way stop and I didn't see a police detail directing traffic when I went through.

I remember this happening often in the early 00's
