Belmont convenience store goes up in flames

Colin Steele photographed a convenience store on fire around 8:10 p.m. on Belmont Street at School Street near the Watertown line.
Jon Woodland also arrived on scene and shows us what it looks like on the now closed Belmont Street because of the three-alarm blaze:
Dave O'Brien videoed the fire:

Watertown line, but
So per the invaluable Brian D'Amico Twitter feed, this is about at the corner of School and Belmont Streets in Belmont. It's across the street from Watertown, (edit to remove correction already made) but practically the whole street is the Belmont/Watertown line, so to just say that it's near the Watertown line won't help geographically. Maybe mention School Street too?
In conclusion, because this is uHub, I should mention how bumpy and difficult this street is for bicyclists (it is!). I should know, [ANECDOTE]. Ernie out.
Rude comment about the street
Rude comment about the street being inconvenint for you. Someone's livelihood was destroyed withthis fire. It's not about you!
Just an in joke
We love our bicycle discussions on UHub, the poster was not actually complaining about being inconvenienced by a fire.
Look at the bus in the second picture...
Comrades! This means more DELAYS!
Buses! Bikes!
Probably that fire is burning because of commies.
But, yeah, Belmont/Trapelo is a mess. Of course, it's being repaved soon.
Apparently the 73 bus is detour around the fire by several blocks on Fairview, so any smoke coming out of the bus will be an everyday T fire.
Comrades!
We agents of the Commintern have successfully pulled off the attack! The Western intelligence now thinks that our base is in flames when we have secretly relocated it!
(But sir, surely you know the thing about Western intelligence!)
And what is that, comrade?
(There is no such thing!)
which stores?
Any word on which stores will be having fire sales?
Jimmy's
I live on Winsor Avenue, the next street over from School, in Watertown. The store is actually Jimmy's now, formerly Shore Drug. Next to it is a barber shop that recently closed and is/was for rent, as well as a former Cuban restaurant that moved a few months back. My immediate thought is arson for insurance purposes, but perhaps my mind runs to the criminal too easily.
As for Belmont Street, it has been in the midst of serious repaving, and tunneling for new sewerage pipes, for a couple of weeks. It has been seriously potholed and miserable to drive/bike upon for years.

I was getting excited for that was about to take over the Cuban restaurant.

Vacant Buildings
Are they more likely to catch fire because there isn't anyone there to notice? More likely to go up because of people breaking in or messing with the wiring/plumbing?
Didn't Shore Drug go under in
Didn't Shore Drug go under in some murky circumstance? Recall that storefront was vacant awhile before it became Jimmy's
They lost their pharmacy license
State pulled their pharmacy license after a joint federal/state investigation:

Reading the article, the owner seems to have had his share of legal problems in his personal life, unrelated to the pharmacy, as well.
