Thanks for the link, I found a screwup already
Even side of a street scheduled for street sweeping on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday AND on the 2nd and 4th Thursday. We'll see what Citizens Connect says.
Well, that was a waste of time
A very nice gentleman at Citizens Connect made a bunch of phone calls and all he could get out of the time-servers in DPW was:
Second sentence is a lie, unless he started working there last week, and the information contradicts the street signs. These people need to get up off their dead asses and get their stories straight.
re: lbb screwup
I've found DPW managers to be pretty good, once you reach the right person and get a bit of focus. (I've found Citizens Connect to be a bit hit-or-miss).
I recommend talking to your city councilor, or his staff (Linehan's staff is decent). Stay cool and patient. DPW has district managers who will actually call you back and talk through an issue, or even come visit the site with you. Maybe there is a logical reason for what you're seeing, or maybe it's messed up.
Plenty in the city isn't perfect, but the managers at DPW seem to care and try to make things right.
Good luck.
PS- If you really want to be heard
If you really want to be heard, attend your community meetings. DPW ( and BPD, and Transportation, etc) often attend, and you have a chance to discuss issues. It's amazing what a bit of face-to-face can do! Yes, it's a shame if doing the right thing requires this extra effort, but bureaucracies aren't perfect, and sometimes extra effort is what it takes.
Somerville street sweeping also starts tomorrow, April 1
App confusion
App says Mondays for my street but all the signs say Wednesday. Hmmmm
Yeah
...that was the problem I had, what was on the site was 1)absurd and 2)not in agreement with what the street signs said. BTD says go with the signs since that's what they enforce. Makes the site worthless though.
A'yup!
World class city! Here's the response I got:
Case Noted
Errors have been found at times. Always go by signs posted.
Very disconcerting they have such erroneous info in the app and are emailing that around to those who sign up for street cleaning notices.... It isn't just my street that is wrong, others in the neighborhood have conflicting info between the app and the signs.
