He seems to be checking to see if Santa is okay. Or, maybe, its like a teenager bending over great great grandpa's chair to gently greet the elder and give them a pat.
Were there any of those bipolar inflatables there? Like the penguin popping out of an igloo or polar bear dancing with penguins?
