Aram Boghosian reports he opened his window in East Somerville this morning to find a rather large bird staring back at him.

Incognito mode and/or clearing cookies makes short work of the Globe's paywall.

Someone else on UHub recently said he was going to spread this fact around so long as the Globe keeps littering his lawn with Globe Directs. I'm not him, but I like the idea, so there.

I believe that's a young red-tailed hawk (the tail turns red when they're older, and their eyes start out yellow).

Come out mad early in the morning on a clear day to Healy Field and watch them dive bomb the pigeons and crows. There is a slew of them living in the Arbs and vicinity. It's graceful - and nature - at its finest.
