Trooper dragged by car during Chelsea traffic stop; Dorchester man arrested
State Police report a passenger in a car that troopers had pulled over for motor-vehicle infractions last night got behind the wheel and started driving off - with a trooper who had tried to stop him dragged for several feet.
State Police say the incident happened at Congress and Pearl streets.
Troopers took the driver, later identified as Luis Cortez, 29, of Dorchester, out of the car. While this was occurring, the Camry’s front seat passenger jumped over the console and got into the driver’s seat, put the car in gear, and began to accelerate.
Troopers rushed to the car window to try to turn off the ignition. One of the troopers was briefly dragged before becoming disengaged from the car, which also nearly hit a Chelsea officer.
State Police say that in the confusion, both that passenger and a third man in the back seat, managed to run away.
Cortez, however, remained firmly under trooper control and is scheduled for arraignment today in Chelsea District Court on motor-vehicle and drug charges.
Innocent, etc.

You do realize cybah these three angels were from Dorchester, not Chelsea right?

still happened in my town. And I'm sure they had some 'business' to do in town too! (like pick up or sell drugs)
So keeping it classy.. :)
Can you add a sound file
of a car horn version of "La Cucaracha" when you post a story like this? Kind of like Howie Carr does when he reports on crimes with Latino offenders?
You know, in a funny, not racist way?
I doubt we can navigate that
I doubt we can navigate that fine line between funny and racist. But I do agree it would be hilarious.
Lets see....
If this guy gets only 200 hours of community service like the portfolio manager from Wellesley that did the same thing.

nah
drugs were involved. Since they tried to drive away, its obvious that they were hiding something from the cops.
If they don't get the screws put to them for driving off, they will for the drugs.
(this happened a block or so from my house.. which would explain the noise last evening)(
