Caught in Southie reports the Boston Licensing Board today approved a Starbucks at L Street and Broadway, which will either make City Point great again or result in the heat death of the universe, depending on whom you talk to.

Your account is just trolling, but you will be back in your more affordable state, or a suburb, after a few years.

Our long national nightmare is FINALLY OVER.

In all seriousness, good for Norton. He didn't deserve to bear the brunt of what the neighborhood brought on him.

They are just typical zoning and planning hearings. It's good that we have them so this region doesn't end up looking too bland like many other places. The important thing is those meetings happened.

It's not zoning nor planning. I'm pretty sure zoning is not an issue. It's the Boston Licensing Board.

This particular meeting was. The overall process is about planning and zoning.

A great day for South Boston.. There are plenty of coffee-sipping residents, so.if the Mom & Pop places' coffee is so good, they'll stay in business too.

And, as we all saw, there went the neighborhood!

He was more emphasizing the "There goes the neighborhood" part. (Move in at age 24 - move out at age 27). Shame.

There goes the neighborhood. Now that the chains have moved in, our local businesses are screwed....it's sad. Only a matter a time until the mom and pop stores like Stop and Shop, Dunkin Donuts, 7-11, Burger King, and Cumberland Farms are out of biz.

There are many independent businesses there.

In the fear-mongering that Starbucks would ruin the neighborhood somehow, all by its lonesome. Let's see if Southie stays worked up enough to organize protests like there were in Central Square.

And conveniently there is a couple bus stops there. It'll be Broadway Station all over again. A bus stop full of the vehicles of the entitled "I'm just running in for a minute to get my skinny mocha chocha latte" patrons

No patron of Dunkin Donuts would EVER dream of parking illegally to run in for just a minute to get one of their greywater beverages. Let alone Dunkin's--make that ANY establishment all along Broadway. Everyone parks at bus stops, hydrants, double parks, you name it. Why the hell do you suddenly care about it when it's a Starbucks involved?

A coffee place like this gets far more quick stops than some others. This is a business that gets a lot of customers so there's going to be a lot of people going there.

90% of the time buses don't pull over into bus stops anyway, so it's a moot point. This stop is no different, as the 9 bus just stops in the middle of the street, regardless of whether someone is illegally parked in the bus stop.

I guess whomever wanted to put the Starbucks there finally agreed to pay a little more to the corrupt Southie politicians to get what they wanted. A win-win for everyone but the residents.

Really? Corruption over a Starbucks? Proof?

it is a win for many residents.
