Caught in Southie reports the Boston Licensing Board today approved a Starbucks at L Street and Broadway, which will either make City Point great again or result in the heat death of the universe, depending on whom you talk to.

They are just typical zoning and planning hearings. It's good that we have them so this region doesn't end up looking too bland like many other places. The important thing is those meetings happened.

There goes the neighborhood. Now that the chains have moved in, our local businesses are screwed....it's sad. Only a matter a time until the mom and pop stores like Stop and Shop, Dunkin Donuts, 7-11, Burger King, and Cumberland Farms are out of biz.

No patron of Dunkin Donuts would EVER dream of parking illegally to run in for just a minute to get one of their greywater beverages. Let alone Dunkin's--make that ANY establishment all along Broadway. Everyone parks at bus stops, hydrants, double parks, you name it. Why the hell do you suddenly care about it when it's a Starbucks involved?

A coffee place like this gets far more quick stops than some others. This is a business that gets a lot of customers so there's going to be a lot of people going there.

90% of the time buses don't pull over into bus stops anyway, so it's a moot point. This stop is no different, as the 9 bus just stops in the middle of the street, regardless of whether someone is illegally parked in the bus stop.
They met the asking price
I guess whomever wanted to put the Starbucks there finally agreed to pay a little more to the corrupt Southie politicians to get what they wanted. A win-win for everyone but the residents.
