Citizen complaint of the day: Has the Indians' plane left yet?
By adamg on Tue, 10/11/2016 - 9:20am
Shortly before 9 p.m. yesterday, an aggrieved citizen filed a complaint:
Several Cleveland Indians are chewing tobacco in violation of the city ordinance banning tobacco in parks including Fenway Park.

Leave Them Alone
It's the Columbus Day Holiday. It's a tough day for them. They are letting off steam for 68 or 524 years of oppression depending on the interpretation of their world view.
Besides, wasn't it the Native Americans that fostered nicotine on the world? You are a hater. They are being culturally appropriate to their historical agricultural cultural mores.
dude, no.
dude, no.
Seroiusly
What the hell is wrong with you?
Take The Joke
Why So Serious? Lighten Up, Heart Medication costs too much.
Hey, you!
Don't forget where you are. PC rectitude trumps a funny response here seven days a week. You're in big trouble with the UHUB Cotton Mathers!
oh gee....
a racist joke, from a racist sox fan. i don't believe it!
GO TRIBE! Really...go anyone besides the Sox.
- A Real Bostonian
Go Bills too.
I hope I live to see the
I hope I live to see the Bills lose another Super Bowl.
I hope to see the Patsies win
I hope to see the Patsies win a super bowl without cheating.
Anyway, I am a Broncos fan. I just like the Bills because they went into Foxboro and embarrassed the Cheatriots 2 weeks ago. LOL.
Call me crazy
By somehow i find it hard to believe a guy who calls himself "SoBo-Yuppie" is a "Real Bostonian."
You are crazy!
Welcome to the new and improved Boston.
Racism playoffs
I'd say that the "Tribe" team logo wins the racism playoffs.
just for the record..
...you are defending the original racist comments.
but that is par for the course for boston sports fans.
Antagonizing is not "new and improved"
First, I don't think that post was defending the racist comments. I think they were commenting on how the mascot of the baseball team from Cleveland could be perceived as just as racially insensitive as say the NFL's football team from Washington D.C..
Two, if you want to claim that you are from Boston then you need to recognize that people outside your circle of family and friends, are going to associate you with the sports teams here as well as the politicians, the weather, the drivers, the clam chowdah, Dunkin Donuts and all the other stereotypes of Mass. So while you can claim to be a holier than thou Broncos fan, who by the way also supposedly cheated en route to a Super Bowl in the 2004 Salary Cap Skirting or cheated with Mike Shanahan hiring lip readers in 2002, you are going to be connected to the Patriots because you live in Boston. Therefore, by challenging people online about how they are racist from Boston, you are implicating that you too are also racist because YOU ARE FROM Boston. Your condo/home/brownstone/apartment in Southie may be what you want to perceive as a "new and improved" but it is still Boston. This kind of discourse does not seem to be helping us move Boston forward, only trapping it in the past.
Three, if you want it to be a "new and improved" Boston, then why are you antagonizing people around sports? I feel like that is THE classic, old-school Boston thing to do to someone. "Oh yeah pal, well Yankees SUCK!" comes to mind. So the tactic you have chosen does not feel "new and improved" at all. It feels rather lazy and weak.
Other than that, I honestly do appreciate the fact that you are consistent contributor to the conversations on Uhub.
To misquote Lincoln on Grant
Tell me what brand of chew they're using and I'll order up a case for our team in 2017....
Besides that, the complainant
Besides that, the complainant must have missed Brock Holt's big fat packed lip. Pretty sure Buchholtz was dipping too.
Not necessarily
These guys generally use herbal stuff, coffee grinds, etc for ballparks where tobacco is banned.
Well then I imagine the same
Well then I imagine the same defense can be made for the Indians as well. I actually had no idea that they'd be dipping with something that isn't tobacco, so... learn something (gross) every day I guess.
Someone passed me on I93 yesterday
I was driving 55 and they passed me going at least 60. I demand justice!
*The Fenway (and other parks) anti dipping law is stupid and was not passed in good faith, IMO. And no, I don't use tobacco myself.
