Death at sea: The sinking of the Starbound
By adamg on Fri, 08/05/2016 - 9:34am
Fifteen years ago today, the Starbound was headed to port in Gloucester with a load full of herring caught on Georges Bank when it was hit head on by an oil tanker.
Joe Marcantonio, the captain, recounts that night.

What a chilling story.
What a chilling story.
Yup!
Absolutely. It's somewhat reminiscent of the storm at sea many years before that, when five Gloucester fishermen were killed at sea during a really horrific storm--the one that the movie "A Perfect Storm" was based on.
Dead Men Tapping : The End of the Heather Lynn II
Sad story. It reminds me of a great (but sad) book Dead Men Tapping : The End of the Heather Lynn II by Kate Yeomans. A fishing boat was struck by a barge and flipped in 1996 near Cape Ann, trapping the crew in an air pocket in the overturned boat. Divers weren't immediately available and nearby boats weren't allowed to help.
Eerily reminiscent of the Andrea Gale disappearance,
during the storm even earlier than that, which "Perfect Storm" was based on.
