Seven Shocker: Court clears way for Comcast to strip WHDH of NBC affiliation

New England One reports a judge in US District Court in Boston has dismissed the lawsuit by Channel 7's owner against Comcast's decision to set up its own NBC station in Boston using an obscure UHF channel - and, of course, a primo channel location on Comcast's local cable systems.

Can't believe we let Comcast buy NBC.

Feels like the railroad owning the oil company. Where's Teddy Roosevelt when we need him?

Remember learning about that in micro-econ...

Like watching a Ravens-Jets game on TV, no one to root for.

Thew newish tagline "The News Station: Always Have Always Will" is an interesting call to arms in anticipation of the fight to come.

I always liked WHDH News and disliked the news over on NECN. So if WHDH sticks around post merger I may stick with them as my news choice for a bit.

But I predict that this was always just a negotiating ploy between the two parties. Now that Comcast can legally take NBC away from Channel 7, Ansin will come back to Comcast and make it worth everyone's while to stay together. That's why Comcast has always been hazy about where the new NBC station would be, since they never really planned to move, unless they had to.

Alternatively, Ansin will just take several hundred million from the FCC (originally from cell-phone companies) to shut down 7 and 56.

Nobody is going to shut down anything....that's silly...
