The Steaming Tea Kettle returns
By adamg on Thu, 10/06/2016 - 5:12pm
dd808 watched the Steaming Tea Kettle get re-installed today on its perch over what is now a Starbucks on the edge of City Hall Plaza.
The kettle - which can hold 227 gallons, 2 quarts, 1 pint, and 3 gills - was badly dented in May by a truck whose driver was heading into the neighboring Government Center T stop construction site.

YAYY!! I love the steaming
YAYY!! I love the steaming kettle! Memories of....The Ames Diner around the corner, Warburton's, .....
Nice to see
Something so steeped in Boston history is back.
My question from the earlier linked post is how 8 people correctly guessed the volume of that thing. Down to the gill?
Any info? How many contestants guessed? Odd.
Glad to have it back gleaming in the sun
I was shocked that they had to spend $15,000 to repair and rejuvenate the kettle. The Globe story didn't say who paid the bill, but I appreciate that someone spent the money needed to do it right.
Before this cafe was a Starbucks
it had a second floor. Starbucks doesn't use that, so any idea what's now up there?
Based on the first photo ...
It looks like a dentist's office.
a really big
