Two workers at Roxse Homes admit they took bribes to get people apartments

An assistant property manager and a custodian at the Roxse Homes subsidized-housing complex on the Roxbury/South End line pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy and seven counts each of corrupt receipt of payments by a federally funded organization, the US Attorney's office in Boston reports.

The two could face up to five years in prison when sentenced later this year.

They were indicted last fall for taking payments of up to $7,000 to move people's names up the waiting list at the project, which has not had new names added to it since 2009.

At least seven people got apartments this way.

Whistleblowers: now's your chance to drop a dime on corruption in your own office, before someone else does.

Let's clean this up, so honest people don't get shorted for housing around here.

Are the 7 people who paid bribes and unfairly obtained apartments facing any consequences?

Officials in Washington should look into the history of Roxse Homes and its management companies past and present, the tenant council and its limited partner. This has gone on since the late 80’s. Favoritism among some especially in the tenant organization. No accountability of how funds are spent in the tenant organization and management despite pleas to look into the matter over the years. It’s seems to always be a continued cover up. No wonder corruption of this magnitude can happen. A long time tenant and a board member during early 90’s, I see why something like this can happen. This is nothing new, the two indicted were just caught that's all.
