Boston has a bit of a problem
... in that, for the most part, no one ever gets convicted of murder or assault, and those cases never get closed. WTF? What do the Mayor and DA have to say about this?
I used to think that the Boston Marathon case should have been handled in Mass. state court rather than federal court -- notwithstanding the "terrorism" label, the brothers were not representatives of a foreign power, just terrible people, and the deaths they caused were straight-up murders. But if a Boston jury won't convict someone of murder, what's the alternative?
Your logic is flawed in that
Your logic is flawed in that he's already serving a life sentence for another murder in which he was convicted in Massachusetts.
Here's another flaw
What the heck does the Mayor of Boston have to do with the prosecution of a court case? We'll also ignore the fact that the mayor when the murder occurred is no longer alive.
Don't blame the jurors when the DA presents a bad case
Reading the Globe's account of the trial, it seems like the DA's office put on a less than stellar case. Seems like there was plenty of room for "reasonable doubt", for honest jurors who judged by what was presented in the courtroom.
I don't blame the jurors when a case largely depends on a "star witness" who is a scum bag with no credibility, testifying under immunity.
Did you make that up? Where
Did you make that up? Where in the Globe account does it say the prosecution did not do a good job?
You'd make a great juror
for a defense attorney. Please define reasonable doubt?
The residents of Suffolk county should be reminded that their role as jurors is an integral part of the Justice system. A jury buying the defense argument of blaming the deceased victims as gang banging thugs is just stupid and not an application of reasonable doubt.
Yes, that is somewhat reassuring but ...
... doesn't he have an appeal coming up for that other murder?
If he does...
...he should use the same defense team. Jose Baez is a very brilliant and smart attorney.
He ought to open a practice in Boston!
