Seven more arrested in North End public rowdiness crackdown
By adamg on Sun, 08/27/2017 - 10:34pm
That brings the feast crackdown tally over the past two weeks to 68, NorthEndWaterfront.com reports, adding that not all those arrested tonight were teens - police nabbed their first North End resident, a guy allegedly drinking out in the open in the Gassy who offered to buy a cop a drink and an Indiana woman in her 40s charged with pouring a beer on a cop.

The city is changing
68 troublemakers arrested in the North End during the feast crackdown 2 arrested during the Caribbean festival. Shame on Tito Jackson for trying to grab headlines by demanding an apology from the Boston Police for enforcing the no bike rule that the parade organizers mandated for public safety.

Tito is His Own Special Type of Fruit
He is a Clownberry.
If Tito opened a chain of restaurants they would be called Pander Express.
I'm sure he is a great guy and the Globe yesterday said that he always ate his peas and was nice to puppies, but this trying to race bait on the Caribbean Parade and on other issues in the past might make for a mediocre city councilor, but mayor, no.
You don't govern by division, you govern by unity. Tito is using selected pages from the Louise Day Hicks / Mel King playbook for his own gain. Sorry, that train left a while back.
Payasos?
Me gusta payasos!
Otra, es verdad!
Why was there a no bike rule?
If you can have large sound trucks interspersed with marchers and dancers, why not bicycles too?
(I did not attend this year's main carnival, only the smaller J'ouvert parade in the morning, so I didn't see what happened.)
The question might be
What is meant by "bike"?
I wasn't there, so I've nothing to say, but they might be referencing motorized vehicles.
"a guy allegedly drinking out
"a guy allegedly drinking out in the open in the Gassy"
Oh no! Will someone think of the children?!?
Well, there's drinking and
Well, there's drinking and then there's drinking.
You know why it's OK to pop open a bottle of wine in France in public? Because people are civilized when they enjoy themselves and they generally don't cause disturbances. Being drunk in public is considered imbecile. Over here, in general, it's cool to be a drunk bro and break shit.
I've seen plenty of people here drinking on the beach, in parks - if they don't cause any trouble, no one will bother them. They are just having a good time. Now, if you're being loud, causing trouble, bothering people - to hell with ya.
Oh BS,
You get drunk much faster drinking wine, and the French are not nearly as 'civilized' as in your fantasy.
BTW: The most popular alcoholic beverages in France beer (gasp!) and whisk(e)y, not wine and brandy/cocnac.
You ever think for a second
You ever think for a second that the laws are the reason people can't handle themselves, and not that there are laws because this type of thing happens? In other countries, drinking isn't so taboo, so by the time people are of drinking age, it's not really a big deal. Most of the big binge drinkers I knew came from homes in which alcohol was verboten. Fucking puritans.
Though this time next week I'll be drinking in public in Paris, so I'll report back frat boy sightings.
The notion that drinking beer in a park is an arrestable offense
.. just beggars the imagination, if you step back from it even a little bit.
It's Possible
The guy was otherwise being a problem or refused to behave when police confronted him.
That's entirely possible....
Yes, that's entirely possible. But then they should have arrested him for whatever actual arrestable offense he committed.
If you're drinking out of a
If you're drinking out of a paper bag, minding your own business, can you still get in trouble?
It used to be.
The MDC cops would bust you for drinking on the beach. The Staties today could care less. M Street beach is carpeted in empty Budlight cans at the end of a hot summer day.
No
No it isn't
I saw plenty of teenagers at St. Anthony's last night
doing what kids always do there -- picking up huge fistfuls of confetti and throwing them at each other (and at any adults in the area).
Persistance
It pays off. Get your suburban punk asses out of here unless you can respect the feast for what its intentions are.
Offering to buy a cop a beer is arrestable for stupitity no matter where your from.
Hey Adam how about names of adults just like the kids.
Most of you wouldn't know the word NO you can't do those things because mommy never told you that.
