Jesus. Now THAT's a
Jesus. Now THAT's a significant percentage. Causes are the following: Increased numbered of stolen guns in the hands of gangs, increase of addicts and drug traffic which causes gun violence among suppliers, robberies, etc., increased poverty and lack of opportunity in poor areas Boston neighborhoods caused by bad or no education which causes the perpetual cycle of violence.
Is it?
What's the standard deviation?
Let me add another cause:
Let me add another cause: The revolving court house doors of bad apples not being kept in jail long enough.

I'd argue if you don't catch someone who shoots someone else, that shooter is likely to reoffend and the problem snowballs from there.
Broken windows policing has been largely debunked but I think we can all agree you should at least try to charge people for shooting people at a minimum.
On the plus side, utility work sites have never been better guarded so glass half full?
Marty Marty Marty
Running a city is, not easy.
If only he talked about getting people off the streets like he does about wooing the 0.1% putting up shiney buildings with taxpayer dollars and throwing shade for the IOC.
Please explain how it is you "get people off the streets"?
Solution please?
There are still 3+ months
There are still 3+ months left in the year too...so these will certainly end a bit higher.
the same period last year
the same period last year
Or they could end up lower.
While crunching the numbers
What are the gender, age, and race numbers for the victims? Or would such information be sexist, ageist, and racist?
Good news is that quadruple and quintuple shootings are down!
Two different things
How many shootings are there? And how many people get shot? There are "shootings" everyday in the Southie projects that nobody hears about.. You only hear about it if se odd is actually suffering from a gunshot wound. I would like to see those figures.
400-500
from what I see from @crimehub and @stacos via twitter
I would easily estimate 400-500, Many times ust a car or house is hit and then about 1/3 of the time no one or no thing is hit at all Id say theres just under 2 shots fired call per day in the city
In Southie?
I hear about shootings everyday in Boston because of
I think there was one on friday in southie , but not every day.
Is there any info?
Does anyone have any info regarding whether there are more or fewer shootings in states with less stringent gun laws?
Yes
Yes, there is additional information about how many shootings there are. The data may not be available for every municipality in every state, however, so it could be hard to aggregate and get accurate information to compare state-to-state.
Even if you could, however, state-level data about the number of shootings is unlikely to reflect anything meaningful about the efficacy of gun laws. You would also need to control for all other relevant variables. I have not seen any studies that do so.
In the absence of such data, please go ahead and either believe (1) that stringent gun laws only restrain the law-abiding or (2) that they are "common sense," as your political inclinations dictate.
Is there any information
on how many realtors actually control the general news media? We all know crime statistics are bad for their business and they hate any publicizing of shootings near the "luxury condos". Thank God for Uhub.
On the other hand
If it bleeds, it leads.
Honestly from my view the stuff that happens in highly affluent areas is covered more because it connects with the white suburbs and keeps eyes glued to the TV. The Broadway penthouse murder for example.
Adam covers everything, for every neighborhood and block.
Really?
Boston has an issue with crimes due to injustices that are already taking place. Kids being targeted by police for "looking the part" or criminalizing neighborhoods of color. Lack of advancement in general as well as other factors. Besides Boston is one of the most educated cities, with higher education rates(H.S. Grads, College Grads, etc) in general around besides I think D.C. (doesn't get enough credit). But high cost of living with not many available opportunities for even college grads and city gets more expensive due to luxury condos... You do the math..
