Allston losing another neighborhood bar

The Bus Stop Pub on Western Avenue has its last last call on Saturday, as the development wave continues to crash over the neighborhood. The Lincoln Tavern down the other end of the Guest Street corridor in Brighton is slated to be replaced by condos.

I've been to the Bus Stop many times. Not may favorite place but convenient when I'm in that part of town.
As for "undocumented" (i.e. you mean ILLEGAL) Irish-American immigrants, no, can't say I've ever seen any there.

Last month, somebody created a Facebook event for the bar's last day, resulting in a few articles about it, both here and elsewhere. The event was then mysteriously deleted from Facebook and the stories retracted. Yesterday, the owner confirmed that this Saturday is indeed the last day of business.

Any one know what is slated for development here. The other rumor that popped up with the first Bus Stop announcement (that disappeared) was the Breakfast Club closing as well. Hope that one not so.

Costs to get a Full Transferable Alcohol License are astronomical.

It makes more sense to sell the License and close the place rather than sell them both together because someone with deep pockets will want to open a restaurant somewhere else in the city, like the Seaport.

It has come to the point where a piece of paper hanging on the wall is worth more than the wall itself.
This is why the neighborhood licenses are so important.

It's too bad. I'd only gone in there a handful of times, usually before taking in a hockey game down the street at Harvard. I assume the price for the liquor license has zoomed past the going rate for taxi medallions. Anyone else remember the Boyne Pub?
