A train died at JFK/UMass as rush hour started this morning, causing delays and, as JohnMcBoston shows us, trains with no more room for additional passengers like him.
One stop prior to your destination, begin moving toward the nearest set of doors. Ask people in front of you if they will be getting off at the next stop, and if not, if they would be so kind as to let you by.
That´s how we have to do it in places where the trains run fuller than this every single day.
I take those same MBTA rides every day during rush hour, and beg to differ!
I'm glad your trains are actually packed to the gills, but at least several times a week I see space for 3 or so people to stand, towards the middle of the cars. I make my way there, but almost no one ever does the same- everyone just packs in near the doors (I'm guessing so that they can be close to the exit for their stop).
It´s not, in an existential, universal sense.
There is always already a train behind this one.
It just depends on your definition of "right" in "right behind".

No
They don't. Not when it gets like this they don't.
Not sure when the last time you rode during a rush hour clustereff was, but that absolutely is not the case on the Red or Orange line.
