It was on Brookline Avenue, not in a forest, so we assume people heard it fall

Roving UHub photographer Michelle Lowe Ocana marvels this large tree limb on Brookline Avenue at the Riverway didn't hit anybody when it could no longer fight the law of gravity this afternoon.

Ugh :( No surprise
This makes me so mad. I reported this tree to 311 back in July of 2017 as being dead and in danger of falling on the sidewalk. It was forwarded to the Parks Dept. and I followed up with them twice and was assured that it was being looked into but that it sometimes takes months to get trees taken down. I just walked under this tree a few days ago and realized it was in MUCH worse shape and that I should reach out again to report it. Doubt it would have done much good. I'm so glad that no one was hurt. This is so infuriating though.

I once called about a dead tree in front of my house in East Boston and they ended up showing up and cutting it down, as well as the "good" tree that was in the next spot. When I called to ask why they cut down a perfectly good tree, they told me they had no record of the that tree. So, basically they paid someone to cut down a tree they didn't even know that they had! Haven't been back there in quite some time, but I'd bet there were no new trees planted.
