Last train out of Plimptonville is also the first

A Dig reporter has to get up pretty early in the morning to catch the one train a day that leaves Plimptonville for Boston - it departs at 6:58 a.m.

I drove to Plimptonville one morning this fall, I think to find its reason for existing. Assuming there is one.

While Plimptonville is the most obscure, there are a few others:

Silver Hill (Fitchburg Line)
Hastings (Fitchburg Line)
Pride's Crossing (Rockport Line)
Mishawum (Lowell Line)

and one could argue for this one as well:

GE River Works (Rockport and Newburyport Lines)
