A great writer, also, who wrote columns for the Dorchester Reporter and the Pilot. When I was a kid I looked forward to his Pilot column, an unusual feature of the Catholic newspaper distributed in church. We used to read it for his column and to see what movies the church condemned.
He had unusual takes on sports issues, which mainly concerned sportsmanship, was a fine writer, and did not take the common wisdom approach.
