More suspects sought for double shooting that left one dead in Dorchester parking lot

Kyle Williams, 31, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment today on a murder charge for the death of Shaquille Browder in the parking lot of the Burger King at Columbia Road and Washington Street, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

According to the DA, Williams, on probation for a 2011 conviction on extortion and unarmed robbery charges, did not act alone - he was accompanied by other people, still at large, who followed Browder as he drove to the restaurant around 2 p.m. on Jan. 11:

When Browder parked, those two vehicles stopped nearby. Shortly thereafter, [assistant DA Catherine] Ham said, an occupant of the Tahoe got out, approached Browder’s car, and fired a handgun into it. Browder exited and began to run. At that point, the evidence suggests, he was hit by additional gunfire from the second vehicle.

Video cameras in the area captured the Tahoe’s license plate. That plate was registered to a car rental agency. Rental records revealed that Williams had rented the vehicle and returned it shortly after the homicide, Ham told the court, and Williams was captured on private surveillance as he did so. Boston Police homicide detectives obtained phone records that show Williams was in the area of the homicide at the time it occurred, prosecutors said.

Williams was arrested early this morning in Walpole after a standoff that lasted several hours.
