Tito Jackson to become man of pot action
By adamg on Thu, 05/24/2018 - 9:26pm
The Boston Business Journal reports that former Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson is becoming CEO of Verdant Medical, Inc., a Randolph-based medical-marijuana company.
Jackson, who represented Roxbury, did not run for re-election last year, choosing instead to run for mayor, a race he lost to incumbent Marty Walsh.
Jackson is the second former city councilor to get involved with medical marijuana. Mike Ross, an attorney, has represented two dispensaries in their bids to win city approval, one on Milk Street downtown and one .

CEO bhahaha
Will this clown be handing out free weed to gang members who behave while on probation?
So happy he’s gone. O’Malley next please!
No, but I'll bet he gives a whole lot of
black and brown motherfuckers a shitload of economic empowerment. Scares the shit out of your racist ass, eh?
What?
How is that racist.
You sound rational
Sorry i called for Matt O'Malley's replacement. Horrible of me to wish ill upon a ginger!
Economic Empowerment?
This is medical marijuana, not recreational, so how does that empower the African American community? An individual needs to have a doctor to sign off for a medical marijuana card and a qualifying health condition. Medical marijuana is not covered by health insurance so people pay for it. Tito is going to make money for Tito, don't get confused, and good for him if that is what he wants to do. As for rec marijuana, I can't for one second believe those licenses will stay in the hands of any mom and pop store long, whatever color mom and pop may be, same way the old liquor licenses were traded for big money.
Not sure about this move.....
Mike Ross is an attorney, and attorneys can make money in all sorts of ways if they are good at their job. Tito is not an expert in business or the medical field, and I don't get the "bring workers to Boston" angle.
I guess this is just a job for him?
Pill Pushing
Tito used to work in drug sales pushing opioids.
Some business experience
Before he became a city councilor, he worked in economic development in the Patrick administration.
meh......
I'm not going to call that a 100% political hack job, but that sounds like a 100% political hack job....
Anyway I actually do wish him luck. I actually know him pretty well and he seems to have fallen through the Boston political cracks at the wrong time. Walsh got a bunch of union-favorable city contracts done right before the election that killed Tito and kind of forced his hand as the anti-establishment guy, when I don't really think he is that guy.
So much better
That the white guy hack job get put in charge?
It's not business experience
If the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is still signing your checks.
Business experience?
That's a joke right? Working in government regardless of what role your in does not equate to business experience. Working in business does.
That's like saying someone has cooking experience because they worked for SNAP or a Court Officer having legal experience.
Okay
We will remember this the next time you go on and on about how Government should be run by CEOs.
Or even a spoiled rich brat who has lost at least three fortunes.
Go Blue Devils
This is the most Randolphian thing I have read in a while.
Black man who was in politics gets job
and is not one where's he's paid to influence his old colleagues for some company that is antithetical to his values. Color me shocked!
Why it took so long for dispensaries to get licenses
This is why it took so long for dispensaries to get opened after the vote of the people years ago.
First, all the connected people had to be assured they were burrowed in like ticks.
