Workers at former DYS facility on Long Island convicted of abusing teens in their care

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted several workers at a former DYS facility on Long Island of sexual assault and beatings for incidents in 2014 involving teens under their care, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Jalise Andrade, 37, and Silvio DePina, 40, both of Brockton, Hermano Joseph, 27, of Taunton, and Ainsley LaRoche, 44, of Roxbury, will be sentenced on Friday at 2:30 p.m. following their conviction on a total of 19 counts of indecent assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, intimidation of a witness and/or threats to commit a crime against three victims, the DA's office reports.

In 2014, as workers for Volunteers of Amercia, which ran Casa Isla for DYS, the four engaged in such activities as beating the naked buttocks of the teens with sandals - and forcing other teens to join in the attack.
