AC on one Orange Line train was so bad, the T took it out of service, that's sad

Who knew the T took Orange Line trains out of service just because the AC stopped? Well, they do, or at least did this afternoon and of course that caused delays of up to 15 minutes on the line. The overheated train was taken out behind the barn at North Station and, well, we just don't want to know.

It was taken out back of the barn at Wellington …
… and put right back in to service the next day, fixed with duct tape, bailing wire and maybe chewing gum.
(While in the barn it looked longingly at its new brethren, which can't be used yet because reasons. Summer starts Friday so the T has three months to get the 01400s on the line in revenue service.)

Does anyone remember during the King administration when the MBTA announced to save money they would use AC only in every other car?
No, but ...
I remember the time when the T ran out of money and stopped running altogether on weekend nights - because I'd forgotten about it and had to figure out how to get back home to Waltham from downtown Boston with no money one night (wound up taking a cab - with a driver who agreed to let me stop at a BayBank along the way to get some money from an ATM; yeah, I'm old).
