MBTA says Red Line now fully back to normal
By adamg on Wed, 09/25/2019 - 3:18pm
The T reports this afternoon:
We know this has been a trying few months for our Red Line riders. That is why we are pleased to announce the full restoration of service as of September 23. The Red Line is now back to its pre-derailment service levels across the Line - on both the Braintree & Ashmont Branches.

Red Line normal... so delayed
Red Line normal... so delayed, on fire, smelly, and filthy?
Kind of the definition of …
SNAFU
normal as it ever was
On Monday the 23rd's commute home I couldn't get on the first 2 southbound trains into Park St and barely squashed on to the 3rd. Shoulder-to-shoulder on the platform, same on the train. Long waits at each station so AC never caught up, cos oh yeah it was 92 on Monday. Miserable. So I'd dial back on the "so pleased" sentiments, MBTA...
Normal
"Normal" on the Red Line sounds like a threat.
Define "normal"
What in the world is the T's definition of normal?
Red Line
Not back to normal, ARGHH!
Sad state of affairs is when
Sad state of affairs is when you have to wait 30 min to get on an ashmont train at rush hour because it is packed and the last car is out of service.
What is with downtown crossing station ? Absolute dump and the stairs are falling apart - all of them.
"Absolute dump and the stairs
"Absolute dump and the stairs are falling apart - all of them."
Wait Dtwn Xing or Park Street?
You do realize they're fixing
You do realize they're fixing the stairs at Park *right now*?
Dtwn Xing or Park Street
Yes.
Normal?
They do have an excellent sense of humor in the Public Relations office at the MBTA.
"Normal"
"Normal"
Geez.... Don't give us setup lines like that.
That's it?
I was expecting the usual crash/fire/derailment/whatever story.
"God Himself could not sink
"God Himself could not sink this line."
--The MBTA, maybe
Nowhere to go but up
Lest we forget: the Red Line was in BAD shape in a lot of ways BEFORE the catastrophic derailment. Just check the UHub archive to remind yourself. Don’t let’s settle for this idea “normal”
It's obvious the red line needs additional cars
During rush hours. Or at least more of those cars with the seating removed so they can squish in more humans.
And the rush hour is no longer 4 hrs long. This is 2019, soon to be 2020, not 1985. Soutound to Ashmont and Braintree starts around 2PMish and goes on until 8PM and beyond.
