Number of presidential candidates from Massachusetts could soon double or even triple

Looks like Big Red Weld wants to primary Donald Trump. And it's possible Seth Moulton is getting over his shellacking in the house-speaker skirmish and might be gearing up as well on the Democratic side.

Weld yes, Moulton no
Weld would at least be fun, and could weaken Trump if he can get any traction. He's unpredictable, like Trump, which an asset given the way the media covers campaigns. Moulton, give me a break. He'a lightweight and does not have a chance.
What's everyone got for Trump's eventual nickname for Weld?
I'm short on ideas. If he does try to primary Trump, we all know it's coming. I can't imagine the GOP being too thrilled about this, on the other hand.
No comment on Moulton potentially running.
Bill
Bill or nothing.
Weld used to play word games with Billy Bulger and is far too skilled at biting back.
When Trump knows that he is out done, he backs off on the nicknames. Trump is way out of his league here, just as he is with Pelosi.
Boozebag Bill!
In 2016, our former Gov. Weld compared then-candidate Trump's immigration plan to Kristallnacht. Trump jabbed back at Weld:
Boozebag Bill has a certain alliterative ring, and characteristic lack of decency or sophistication, to it.
Source?
Not sure a tweet that lists an unnamed source and links to no other sources is actually a credible source about this. I highly doubt that anyone will go against Trump in the primary, although they may talk about it in order to get some press and maybe even some money or other in kind benefits from Trump/The Republican Party.
There's been discussion for a while
Maybe Weld is just looking to stay in the news, but he did change his registration back to Republican and hasn't done anything to deny his interest.
Weld would win NH and a bunch of other early primary states which would make for a somewhat interesting primary. It's unlikely he'd steal the nomination from Trump, but it would be a real thorn in his side for a few months.
Besides, Massachusetts has a history of challenging the presidential nomination. Kennedy made a move at Carter in 1980.
Weld win NH?
Weld win NH?
Are you kidding me?!
He would make Scott Brown's miserably failed carpet bagging campaign look like a success.

This is nothing but good news
This is nothing but good news. People from Massachusetts are best-qualified to do everything, including running the country. It's just that simple.
Re: Weld would win NH and a bunch of other early primary states
Huh? Weld can't win NH or any other state. He'd be lucky to get elected to Town Meeting. When NH voters were given the chance in the most recent General Election, they voted 47.25% for Trump-Pence and 4.13% for Johnson-Weld. In fact, Trump was so strong in NH that Hillary barely beat him, less than one half of one percent margin. Trump's popularity among Republicans is stratospheric, so there's little chance for a credible primary opponent, never mind Weld.
Weld hasn't won an election in a quarter century. He walked away in the middle of his last term in a failed attempt to become Ambassador to Mexico. That began a long losing streak, including his disastrous campaign for NY Governor and the even worse disaster and party flip-flopping that was the Johnson-Weld campaign. If Weld's entry means Trump can raise a fortune in a primary fight against a far-left RINO, good.
Comparing Apples to Aleppos
You're probably right about the ultimate outcome, but comparing Trump(Pence) v. Johnson(Weld) in a general election to a head-on collision of Trump v. Weld in a Republican primary is far from apples to apples -- more like apples to Aleppos?
My guess is the state GOP
My guess is the state GOP blocks him from running somehow. He didn't endear himself to many people prior to departing for the LP.
