Owners of Beacon Hill dive look to class up the joint
By adamg on Mon, 09/30/2019 - 1:20pm
The Beacon Hill Times reports that the group that bought several dive bars last year is now planning to turn the Beacon Hill Pub into the sort of high-end dining spot the nobs of Beacon Hill have come to expect. They're working with the former owner of Lala Rokh to find a suitable operator - and are also looking to convert the apartments in the building into "executive suites" for business people in Boston for awhile.

So um, AirBnB?
Sorta, maybe
Assuming they are up on current Boston ordinances, they know they can't do that, so they'll file to become a "boutique" hotel, which subjects them to city licensing rules (which includes a hearing before the licensing board and inspections by ISD).
Call it Wyman B&B?
Too soon..
Another one bites the dust
I've never been, but it seems a part of the old Beacon Hill.
Just nominated it a few days back.

86 THE DIVE BAR
and boot the residents.
These guys are batting 1.000 in the game of "businessmen Bostonians hate most"
If they could somehow bulldoze a dog park or reclaim some bike lanes for Uber parking while they were at it they'd be in Triple Crown contention.
Die in a fire "investment group Uhub cannot seem to name"
Brevity is the soul of wit, or something
Sometimes I write really short just because I'd rather move onto the next hot thing.
This is one of those cases. If you follow the second link in the original post, you'll notice I don't have any problems naming who owns the investment group, even if I didn't go as far as the Beacon Hill Times as naming one as a retired left-handed boxer (I knew one of them was a retired boxer, but the fact that he's left handed? Now that's something!).
Fathers 3
Always was a fun spot
I distinctly remember them
I distinctly remember them assuring people they had no plans to change anything. Bunch of lying weasels.
You are correct!
From an article on 10/1/18
https://boston.eater.com/2018/10/1/17922942/beacon-hill-pub-closed
Greater Boston Bar Co. has provided the following statement (and the headline of this article has been updated accordingly):
The Beacon Hill Pub will be reopening soon under new management with no changes to this Boston institution that patrons have enjoyed for so many years. We are delighted that the character and charm of this wonderful pub will remain the same and we look forward to serving the BHP’s loyal customer-base and creating many more memories.
Weasels use weasel words
"I don't have any plans to change it" vs "I won't change it for at least 5 years."
"I don't see any reason why you can't have it next Tuesday" vs "You can have it next Tuesday"
etc.
Why would you buy a weak
Why would you buy a weak business and not change it?
Why bother saying you won't
Why bother saying you won't change anything if that's your plan? It wouldn't have impacted the sale.
It was a year ago. Maybe it
It was a year ago. Maybe it didn't do as well as they thought it would.
NOBS of Beacon Hill would be a great name for the place

The Plebs still have Harvard Gardens
Sad. I miss the pre-World-Class-City Boston.
It aint the same...
As of about 15+ years ago Harvard Gardens was purchased by one of the big corporate restaurant groups, completely remodeled, and is now yet another generic eating/drinking establishment.
After Buzzy's Left
That whole neighborhood started going downhill.
Go to The Tam while you can!
Heck, I'm going to drop a deuce in the doorless men's bathroom. Just because you still can!
Don’t touch the TAM
Don’t you frickin **** DARE !!!!!!
