The runner who finished the race, then congratulated all the other runners
Boston EMS Lt. Tony O'Brien worked Copley Square yesterday. He reports there were so many inspirational people yesterday, including the guy who crawled across the finish line, but this guy may have been the most inspirational:
I have no idea who he is or how he lost his legs. What I DO know is that he ran 26.2 miles on prosthetics then waited at the finish line to congratulate every single person that crossed it behind him. It was cold. All the other runners just wanted to go wherever they were going and get fed/showered/comfortable, or whatever.
Not this guy. He stayed there for hours high-fiving, hugging and hyping every single person who finished the race. Yelling things like:
“YOU DID IT!”
“YEAH MAN! COME ON GIVE ME SOME!”
“THEY GOT SOME HARDWARE DOWN THERE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT!” (Referring to the medal each runner receives)
This guy was awesome.
His enthusiasm and humanity was infectious.
This guy makes the world a better place.
Rosabri Mejia was also in Copley Square yesterday and filed this pre-race report:

Great story
It's the little stories like this that make the Marathon a great event.
