Something in, or on the air? WGBH's radio head announces retirement - next year

Barely a week after WBUR announced the departure of its general manager, Boston's other NPR news station is announcing its general manager will be leaving too - but with a bit more lead time.

WGBH today announced that Phil Redo, general manager for radio and local news, will retire in July, 2020.

Redo was quoted as saying that after 40 years in radio - 10 at WGBH - he wanted to do "some projects of my own" and to write.

Judging from the fact that WBUR's GM was relieved of his day to day duties and not allowed to freely come and go to the offices compared to the announcement that the WGBH GM will continue in his role while the search for his replacement is conducted- the WGBH departure seems more like a natural transition.
