The Quincy Center station was opened in 1971 under Governor Frank Sargent (R - Dover) and was designed, built, and nearly completed under the administration of John Volpe (R-Wakefield). Volpe left in 1969 to become a cabinet member in the Nixon administration. Volpe made his money, in wait for it; construction. Didn't seem to work out well here.
So, no it was not "built to last" during the Dukakis era. The problems with the decayed Quincy Center station (which was on verge of collapse during the winter of 2015 - that is why no cars were allowed to park upstairs), are 100% at the foot of Republican administrations.
Back off on the honorable, no sarcasm intended, Mike Dukakis.

i agree with your overall point 100% - but to suggest that any website’s moderator(s) should scan/delete every comment for incorrect assertions is kinda out there. that’s what the rest of us are here for :).
It is the unregistered users
That is the point. Anyone can throw out a comment out there with no credibility and its gets posted, though the gatekeeper of the site. I'm sure that there is a lot of blocked comments out there, but for a while a lot of people may have believed that Michael Stanley (Not to be confused with the Michael Stanley Band) Dukakis had something to do with a design flaw in the drainage at Quincy Center station. It was a pathetic comment with zero credibility.
By the way, for those of you who do not know, the garage above the station has been removed.
Porter - Alewife Red Line runs 10 months out of the year
For two months we're treated to a weekend shuttle bus. The Dukakis team used an experimental concrete tunnel process to save on money upfront. The maintenance of the tunnel requires up to 2 months of service shutdowns every year. Admins before/after Dukakis and Dukakis himself are to blame for the state of the T
