Boston Globe pulls Sunday Magazine out of today's paper
By Ron Newman on Sun, 06/07/2020 - 11:04am
The Boston Globe announced on the front page that "the Sunday Magazine was removed from as many copies of today's Globe as possible because a cover illustration, which was printed in May, bore an unintentional but close resemblance to the way George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis."
The contents of today's magazine, minus the cover, are available at BostonGlobe.com/magazine .
Hat tip to Dan Kennedy for noticing this before I did.

The cover in question
Here.
Now that I've seen it
I agree, reluctantly, with the Globe's decision to yank it.
It's going to cost them a lot to refund all the advertisers.
At 11:38am
it's not there?
Maybe try again?
Because it's there at 11:48 am.
It's there
It's a reply to the tweet that is at the link. (Thank you Adam for not including it inline here.)
multiple links.
Click on the AG provided link, then the pic that looks like a brown circle.

Variation
An illusion in a similar style accompanies the article on the Globes site and has for a few days. It looks like hands grabbing a head in a forceful manner.
I wouldn't have connected either images with the protests and Floyd's death but can understand their precaution.
People might be more inclined to forgive the globe if they made a habit of running daily stories about violence in neighborhoods of Boston in addition to wall-to-wall coverage of building developments in Newton.
The Boston Globe does NOT
The Boston Globe does NOT care about the black lives in this city. When we were experiencing an uptick in violence during the pandemic, they were running a fictional novel as their main headline.
Last time I picked up a
Last time I picked up a BostonSunday Globe paper was 15 years ago, The good ole days , walk to the convinience store, pick up the paper and lounge in the back yard on a Sunday morning, look through the depressing news in the Metro section and more depressing news in the ‘ news briefs’ section ( remember that ) the Real Estate section, to see if real estate prices were gaining momentum in Charlestown and Jamaica Plain, Lighten up the day by reading the Boston Globe magazine , Search the Auto section to see if 2.9 % financing would return or see if you can search a good quality used 1985 Dodge Aries for $850 .
Censorship
First the Governor and the mayor treat us like children with their rules not laws now the media actually believe the adults in the room cant handle a magazine cover.
You might want to look up the definition of "censorship"
Because a newspaper deciding not to print its own content is not it - anymore than me deciding not to post all 200 photos I take at a rally.
Are you sure?
Trump seems to think self-censorship is prohibited.

It's weak. Only those who scream into the void without any thought or consideration are strong leaders.
You mean that facetiously, right?
Otherwise, I regret and revoke the upvote.
You know me, the only void I
You know me, the only void I think is worth screaming into is the UHub comment section. Fairly certain Dear Leader isn't on here. That would be interesting though!
He's not
The UHub trolls have better English skills.
Thanks for the laugh. I
Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.
Ahh...the Globe!
Over reacting to a cover that has nothing to do with George Floyd or his murder but boy does it placate their readers in Newton that might have taken offense!
i never get this kind of sarcasm
i get that the implication here is some rich liberals may be offended and who cares about them. is it possible that maybe some other people might have been offended too?
if they had been able to pull the cover before it ran, you would have never known about it.
The magazine articles should be in the free part of the website
I paid for the paper at the store, and so I paid for the magazine articles. Are they on the free part of the Globe website or behind the paywall?
Cringe-worthy!
Right decision by BG.
Right decision might have
Right decision might have been to print a note on the Sunday Globe front page saying "yes, we know, but it really is a coincidence". Pulling the whole printed insert, because of a coincidence, is cringe.
