Rose, 66, retired two years ago as a Boston officer and as president of the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association.
The DA's office adds:
The investigation into Rose is ongoing. Anyone with additional information should contact the Suffolk County State Police Detectives Unit at (617) 727-8817.

Four new accusers
Two were children then, and two are still children now, per the SF Examiner:

I regret having just finished my lunch, because now I feel nauseated.
And no one was aware?
No one suspected? I think this is more commonplace in the police than in the general public.
I recall an afternoon get together at my apartment back when I was a teen. A friend showed up with a childhood friend who had a State Cop in tow. She was over 18 but had been the family babysitter since she was 12. The 45ish cop sat silent and stony faced in the young crowd never taking his eyes of his kid’s babysitter. Creepy possessive sort. She wanted to go to college but her “boyfriend” with the wedding ring had said he wouldn’t allow her to live in a dorm. Our mutual friend told me this. She was demure and seemed very innocent. She so wanted to connect with someone her age. I hope she got out of that and found freedom.
Yeah
The fact that this abuse took place over 20+ years makes me fear that there were warning signs brushed under the rug by BPD to avoid an enormous scandal. No-one wants to believe something this bad about a colleague.
No one wanted to believe it
about the Catholic Church, either.
It’s considered droit du seigneur.
By those in power.

generalize much?
Wait. A cop gave you the creeps 25 years ago, and this guy is charged, so now police are child abusers?
I thought were supposed to judge people on their merits?
It's not about the prevalence, it's about the coverup
If I recall the Boston Archdiocese story correctly, I believe the conclusion was that pedophilia was not any more common among Catholic priests than it was among the public at large; the issue was that the institution kept protecting and covering for the perps by reassigning them to new parishes etc. instead of shutting them down.
Child rape cults tend to
Child rape cults tend to attract people who rape children.
The subtle distinction
Seems to be that, while Catholic priests are not, per se, a bunch of pedophiles, the Catholic priesthood is a pedophile outfit. I think the distinction is important.
Well, no, not exactly
We know the Catholic Church is a pedophile outfit (or at least one more interested in protecting its own members than it it is in stopping child rape) because some folks did some really outstanding journalism to break the story wide open 20 years ago.
We don't know (yet) whether the Boston Police Department is a pedophile outfit, because reporters are rightfully scared for their lives at the prospect of breaking the story open.
Well, no. The Catholic
Well, no. The Catholic Church is neither a "child rape cult" nor a "pedophile outfit".
As on QI, the klaxon blares loudly for incorrect answers, cliches, folk myths, and popular urban legends. Thank you, kinopio and erik, for the hate speech, tired tropes and the resultant tinnitus.
What the Catholic Church IS - among other things - is an organization SLOWLY coming out of a morass created by decades (at least) of (a) pedophiles, pedarasts, rapists etc... within its ranks, and (b) institutional response that (at times) concealed and enabled, and (at other times) was "merely" slow and tone-deaf. And it will be decades recovering from it.
...
and, sad to say, as crappy as the response has been - it is actually out ahead of other institutions that tell themselves "that couldn't happen HERE!" - institutions like schools, sports and scouts - that have watched the last 18-30 years with the Catholic Church and haven't cleaned their own houses!
Both your take and Kinopio's...
...are dangerously simplistic.
Sicko
No bail life without parole for this creepy clown. Can't sweep this under the rug like the BOOM BOOM ROOM scandal.
