Developer plans six-story residential building next to New Balance complex in Brighton
Developer Mathew Pennino has filed plans with the BPDA for a six-story, 25-unit apartment building right behind New Balance's Boston Landing development on the rapidly transforming Hichborn Street.
Pennino's proposed $6-million project would replace an existing three-family building. Three of the units would be rented as affordable.
The building would have eight parking spaces.
The proposal includes a design to fit in with the neighboring New Balance buildings:
The building endeavors to match the quality and style of the New Balance developments. Consciously taking a similar form to the commercial properties New Balance has successfully constructed and transformed the neighborhood with, the proposed building modulates between the existing, low-rise conditions and the modern high rises.

Low parking numbers
It's great to see projects with small numbers of included parking spots. This will keep costs lower, which will mean more housing for more people, and it will prevent traffic in the area. Good signs from our development process.
