The few and the many at Jamaica Pond

There were only three of these purple flowers on the banks of Jamaica Pond yesterday, but zillions of these white flowers:

White wood aster. (Wood aster also has a pale blue form, more common.)

Spiderwort is the WORST
"Oh, look at the pretty purple flowers!" And look at it spreading everywhere and being impossible to eradicate. Ugh. I hate the stuff.
It's been a three year battle
And I am losing. Planting those things was the worst idea the former owner had.
