Man arrested as Methadone Mile drug dealer is released, arrested again as Methadone Mile drug dealer two weeks later; DA vows crackdown
Three men face a total of 36 drug and gun charges related to alleged Mass and Cass drug dealing this year following their indictment by a Suffolk County grand jury last week, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, which add it now has warrants for police to arrest 40 more people for dealing drugs along Methadone Mile.
Among those indicted last week: Robert Lewis, 56, charged with distribution of a Class A substance, subsequent offense, trafficking in more than 10 grams of fentanyl, trafficking of more than 18 grams of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, trafficking in more than 100 grams of fentanyl and heroin, trafficking of 18 to 36 grams of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and being a habitual offender, the DA's office reports.
Lewis was arrested on March 18 at Massachusetts Avenue and Washington Street by BPD officers who found ""a bag the suspect was holding which contained 18 small plastic bags of crack cocaine, 30 small plastic bags of fentanyl, 11 small plastic bags of powdered cocaine and one larger plastic bag of powdered cocaine with a combined total weight of 54 grams."
A Boston Municipal Court judge released him on $2,500 bail, according to the DA's office, which says he was then arrested again on April 3 on Atkinson Street, after officers "officers observed him take part in multiple alleged drug transactions." A Roxbury Municipal Court judge set bail at $10,000 but agreed to order him held after revoking his bail on the March arrest on Massachusetts Avenue, the DA's office reports.
Also indicted last week: Jay Candelario, 40, of Lowell, who was arrested on Feb. 13 outside the Southampton Street shelter, allegedly in possession of a variety of drugs for sale as well as a loaded handgun with a 15-round magazine and a laser sight. At his arraignment in Roxbury Municipal Court, a judge denied a request from a prosecutor to order him held pending a dangerousness hearing, but did agree to order him held because of a probation violation out of Middlesex County.
He was indicted on charges of trafficking more than 100 grams of fentanyl, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of buprenorphine with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was also charged as a level-2 armed-career criminal, which could mean longer sentences if he's convicted on the other charges.
The third indicted man is Dale Clarke, 24, of Dorchester, who allegedly sold drugs to undercover BPD officers a number of times at Mass and Cass and near his Ellington Street home in April.
He was indicted on four counts of distribution of cocaine, distribution of fentanyl, subsequent offense, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and two counts of trafficking in more than 200 grams of fentanyl, according to the DA's office, which adds he was also indicted on charges of receiving stolen property, three counts of illegal possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and three counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony for the guns officers allegedly found during a search of his home. He also faces three counts of being a level-1 armed career criminal.
The DA's office adds that police will carry out the 40 new arrest warrants "on a rolling basis in the coming days and weeks."
Innocent, etc.

Warrant sweeps on the Methadone Mile
Are about as effective as sweeping dirt off the Blue Hills. They do provide a good PR photo in election years.

If Magoo had a superpower Magoo would have something similar to Thanos’ snap glove. But instead of snapping, Magoo would toot out of existence all the yucky stuff in this realm like drugs and meanness. Magoo.
