New North End sandwich place changes name; turns out a New Yorker was already using the name
Update: Name change approved.
The owners of New England Wichcraft Company on Salem Street today asked the Boston Licensing Board to let them change the name to New England Wicked Craft Company.
"There were some potential trademark issues with New York," attorney Marci Costa said at a hearing this morning.
Costa did not detail those issues. However, prominent New York restaurateur Tom Collichio first opened a restaurant called 'Wichcraft in 2003.
The board could decide tomorrow whether to approve the name change.
I am not planning on opening a Wichcraft in Massachusetts at this time. https://t.co/5ArPGWrSbt
