Blue Mass. Group founder Charley on the MTA announced today he's turning off the site on Dec. 6 - spending $525 a year on an LLC for what's largely become a moribund site has become prohibitive.
I was once active on it. I harbored an illusion for a while that it was a progressive forum, but came to realize that its only purpose was to elect Democrats, regardless of how reactionary they were.
If he's worried about the content not being available in the future, maybe he can give the Internet Archive a heads up. They sometimes make copies of sites before they go down, and then keep them available through the "Wayback Machine".
Magoo wonders if Uhub will ever post a message like this. Magoo certainly hopes not but Magoo suspects that some uhubbers on this site might exclaim in exclamation “oh goody goody gum drops!” If such a sad message was ever posted by uhub. Those uhubbers are certainly big mean meanies. Magoo.
While the announcement says that they will keep a copy of the archive it seems that a bit of effort to protect the record would be in order.
Is this the sort of thing that you could provide a digital copy of that record to the Boston Public Library or libraries at UMass or other universities to ensure that its available for future researchers and historians and they would document it in their inventory?
The annual cost of keeping an LLC is fairly high in MA compared with other states. I had one for a very part time business once, which also included a web site (hyperlocal,) and I couldn't justify the fee anymore after a few years. Why?

I hope that if it ever comes to archiving UHub that there is a copy available with your drivel removed.
