Why do the Covid deniers hate America?
By adamg on Thu, 03/17/2022 - 12:47pm
There was a ceremony at Dorchester Heights this morning to commemorate the day the Americans drove the British out of Boston. Mayor Wu was there and so was her obviously jobless contingent of Covid deniers, banging drums and yelling about whatever specific Covid thing they're upset about today. Fine, but they kept right on banging their drums and yelling even as a bugler played Taps to remember the true patriots who died before the British left.

Where's Henry Knox When You Need Him?
PS - I have a wedding up in Gloucester next weekend. It is right near Plosszilla's house. Does anyone want me to stand outside and beat a drum for a while and scream?
Do it.
And don’t forget to post pics.
Pics are so y2K
Gotta get a TikTok account!
Only reason not to
She lives for confrontation. It's the only thing that brings any sense of joy to her miserable life.
Then she and John should…
… get on like a house on fire.
Jobless
Who pays these people? There is zero chance that they are not on someone’s dark money payroll.
Imagine is the always-sassy
Imagine is the always-sassy AdamG referred to BLM protestors as “clearly jobless.”
Oh, looks like our guest would like to buy a clue
Yeah, I put that in the story specifically because I am very familiar with the sort of people who kept complaining about BLM, etc. protesters not having jobs. Clearly another case of right-wing projection, since, unlike most BLM protesters, who, in fact, would go back to their jobs the next day, these people have been pulling the same shtik day after day for more than two months now, which indicates a certain serial joblessness under the right-wing criteria.
clearly adam
Clearly Adam is right. I mean how clear does he need to be? You'd have to be a fool to not clearly know he is clearly right.
Now get on your horse and go back to Cleary Square where you came from :p
BLM had an agenda
First BLM had an agenda they were working for, second they didn't protest constantly. It was specific times and places for protests. If you protest non stop for months with no clear agenda then you are not really protesting as much as you are just partying in inappropriate places.
yeah anon... imagine

Koch Bros have a fund called
Koch Bros have a fund called something like "New Civil Rights" They funded the anti-CRT, anti school board/mask stuff. It's all astroturf again. She is on their payroll for sure as are many others
Koch bro now.
David went on to his reckoning in 2019. Fred's mortal coil severed years ago. Along with the other founders of the John Birch Society. Frederick died in 2020.
There may be some interesting bio pics produced after the last of the K. bros are gone.
What will happen to the Kochtopus once Charles has joined his dad? Are their children chips off the block of Fred? Hope they all enjoy their many boards of trustees and cultural vulture associations, fancy dinners, never a worry for food, housing or medicine while millions go without any of the basic three needs every day.
I don't think that sign means
I don't think that sign means what she thinks it means.

Evacuation Day Dorchester Heights
I was there. I agree with the right to protest. I'm a veteran. I had no problem with the heckling of Mayor Wu during her remarks.
I did have a real problem with the clown banging on a drum through the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and Taps.
I can't help but think that in times gone by, that guy would've been crowned with that drum.
Happy Evacuation Day!
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
I'm out of town this week
Down in DC. I can't say for certain that the periods of constant vehicle horns blowing in the distance for minutes at a time we're those protest convoys, but it was hard to ignore whatever the noise was as I was watching the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. If it was one of those convoys making that noise, fuck them for such a (hopefully) unintended consequence.
Separately, I happened upon a pro-Ukraine demonstration outside the White House the other day and all through it, including during a moment of silence, a woman with a sign saying she an evangelical candidate for president who continued to speak into her megaphone off to the side. Classy stuff.
There is a difference...
...between supporting the right to protest (which may or may not cover heckling), and "having no problem with it". I can acknowledge someone's right to do what they're doing, but if they're assholes (as these people are, regardless of whether they're playing over Mayor Wu's remarks or commemorative activities that are sacred to you), I have a problem with it.
Optical illusion
So they aren't so good with their optics.
But it captures eyeballs and that can be leveraged into $$$ in megaphone and rainbow clown wig sales among other things, often overpriced identity signifying clothing and accessories.
And leave time for others to get their online video chat psychotherapy appointments when they prefer. Exhibitionists gotta exhibit.
I don't get all this
I don't get all these nutty protests. Mind you I do not even mind right wing protests of any kind, though it couldn't be further from my own ideology. You know, free speech and all that jazz. But this WACKY stuff. It's incoherent. What is it for? Why this sudden rise of the lunatic fringe?
I know this one!
It's racism.
Yes, but
I will not deny that racism is an element of it. But I don't recalls seeing a lot of this type of fruitcake behavior we see now when Deval Patrick, a man of color, was governor, for example.
Ass clowns disrupt what they can't control
They like to pretend that they are some "silent majority" in their lead poisoned brains, but the reality is that they are not in control because they are unpopular and crazy, not because of any conspiracy.
The latest thing seems to be that if you are a loser, you have some "right" to be a sore loser and just disrupt shit to get attention.
Agreed. Overflow/development
Agreed. Overflow/development into public performance from online comment and discussion board culture. Because IRL culture has withered, but especially because those socially inept enough to continually annoy people aggressively were left alone. Once they found a cohort, they were free to move to meatpacking once more and still have a few like-minded friends. And get the attention and power they wish others didn't have. I'll be in my armchair all day....
Could be racism plus…
… sexism.
Plus a bunch more unidentified isms contorting these people’s minds.
No sexism?
If the mayor wants fringe lunatics to stop protesting outside her home, then she should address them or a representative directly. These protests started because of her policies. This is what you sign up for when you become a public figure, not to mention being elected to lead a city. She works for all of us and it is part of her job to at least pretend to listen.
What she should not be doing is taking away or limiting the rights of those who dissent with her policies.
Some on the city council realize this as well. Thankfully.
Yeah...
...astroturf is not dissent.
That’s not the point
Do you have a paper trail on all these protesters? Even if they are getting money from outside sources, that is not the point. It is about the fact that a government official is going overboard in how to deal with it.
It’s never been good when those in power try to take it away from those who do not have it. Say what you will, but these are still peaceful protests. They are not destroying property and played within the rules. Those rules are now being changed for all of us.
Honey...
...it's been established that any number of them are chronic, serial cranks.
Why are you caping for them? Oh wait, I know, your head explodes anytime there's a mention of Mayor Wu.
Tell me where you live. I'll be there at 4 am.
Sugar…
You’re missing the point. I don’t care about “them.” I get that you do. You don’t like them on an emotional level. I get it.
I liked Michelle Wu a lot as a city councilor and supported her in every one of her city council elections. I think she is well spoken and thoughtful.
People have the right to protest whether you like them or not. Any elected official that supports removing or limiting these rights should be watched very closely and their decision making should be scrutinized.
another danger
is blindly aligning yourself with the people who abused the rules Wu is looking to change in the first place.
if that sounds like it could have gone unsaid, then i invite you to reconsider the gravitas you’re attempting to lend to your last paragraph.
I am aligning myself with the right to protest
That is all
Sweet 'n Low
These folks are destroying a valuable possession belonging to Wu's neighbors: the right to peaceful and quiet enjoyment of their homes.
If the mayor was living in a commercial area where there are no other human beings, including her children, then perhaps the constant harangues could be seen as fitting within peaceful protest. But these protests are assaulting both neighbors and the Wu children.
Your claim of peaceful protest fails due to this violation of what the neighbors have a right to.
Protests at City Hall is within bounds. Harangues at a person's home, violating the peace and quiet of residents who are not even part of government, is immoral. It is attempting to use intimidation of neighbors in the hope that they will put pressure on the immediate target.
Years ago bill collectors would call neighbors of debtors and leave messages telling the neighbor that the caller (a supposed friend) needed to reach the debtor about some important personal matter. The bill collector used a book called a Cris-cross which was a telephone directly organized by addresses, not names. This was a subtle form of intimidation by trying to pull in neighbors who had no concern in the matter into the picture.
Same deceit and intimidation is happening here.
Better things to do...
A waste of her time better spent elsewhere?
