Troopers, firefighters recover homeless man's body from Neponset River in Hyde Park

State Police and Boston Fire Department divers today recovered the body of a 60-year-old homeless man reported missing Monday morning from a homeless encampment near where the Mother Brook meets the Neponset River in Hyde Park.

Divers and other firefighters and police responded to the area around 7:30 a.m. on Monday after two other men who shared the encampment found his walker and sneakers along the shores of the Mother Brook near B Street. An initial search - which covered the Neponset down to the dam behind the Planet Fitness on River Street - did not find anything.

State Police say that around 1 p.m. today, Special Emergency Response Team troopers spotted the man's body in the river near where Dana Avenue cross the Neponset. State Police and Boston Fire divers then recovered his body.

State Police add the exact cause of death remains under investigation.
