It's a serene morning on the Charles and then a couple of young deer get the zoomies

On a walk in Millennium Park along the Charles yesterday morning, Mary Ellen's view changed from an egret (and hidden heron) in the calm, morning mist to the frenetic bounding of a pair of young deer:

Thank You Mary Ellen!
Can I just send a shout-out to Mary Ellen for all of the wonderful photos (and videos) of hers that are posted here on UHub? I so appreciate the almost daily sights she captures. Such a break from all of the other news that happens locally. And, thank you Adam, for doing such a great job reporting all of the other news!
that's not a solitary egret,
that's not a solitary egret, they have a heron friend behind them!
Ooh, I completely missed the heron!
Clever girl!
But do egrets and herons even interact?
Egrets are herons
When they're white, they're called egrets (usually), but they're all in the same family. The bird in the picture is, I believe, a Great Egret, which is also known as the Great White Heron. There is a white form of the Great Blue Heron that is also known as the Great White Heron. It's not much of a distinction.
That doesn't mean they interact, of course. But they do appear to fish together in companionable silence.
I want some real Boston Bruins
This deer population thing escalated quickly!
According to that crazy person complaining about coyotes...
...bears belong in the Berkshires.
