Man won't be able to masturbate in public for at least three months
A Boston man with a history of whipping it out in public was ordered held without bail for at least 90 days following his arrest for outbound masturbating at Beachmont on the Blue Line in full view of a woman heading inbound Tuesday morning, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Francis Costa Jr., 56, actually had bail set at $3,000 on charges for both that incident and for urinating on the platform both there and at Maverick, but an East Boston Municipal Court judge then revoked his bail on earlier vandalism and assault charges until at least an Oct. 8 hearing, the DA's office reports.
According to the DA's office, Transit Police officers responded to Beachmont on a report of some open and gross lewdness:
The victim told officers she was waiting for the train on the inbound platform around 6:45 a.m. when she observed a man on the outbound platform, in his fifties, wearing a dark blue polo shirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers with his penis exposed and openly masturbating.
After reviewing video surveillance from the MBTA station, officers located and stopped a male, later identified as Costa, several hours later matching the victim’s description and the individual depicted in the video footage.
Officers asked Costa if he was at either the Beachmont or Maverick station earlier that morning and if he had done anything to draw attention to himself. Costa told officers he was at both stations and urinated on the platforms.
According to the DA's office, Costa has a long record that includes convictions for indecent exposure and several arrests for open and gross lewdness.
Innocent, etc.

One down
Dozens to go on the moving asylum known as the T.
Curious
What line do you ride and how often?
As much as it pains me
to say this. I agree with anon. The T lately has just been one big bag of mixed nuts.
I ride daily, sometimes 2-3x a day.
In the past month I've seen lots of people on drugs.. lots of people. I had some guy the other day pace up and down the car randomly take a seat for 10 seconds then get up and mumble something about the seat then get up again to go sit a few seats away. Wash rinse repeat.
Or the guy who was so high at north station he was nodding off. The attendant tried to wake him then called TPD. They tried to get him to move it along (he didnt want medical attention) but he would stand, walk 2-3 feet then walk back to the bench to noddy off. It was sad to watch.. he clearly needed medical attention but you can't force them. Not sure what happened next cuz the train came (I was on the opposite platform watching)
Then the couple on the bus one day. The woman clearly was spinning out off something or nodding off. The guy was trying to keep her from falling out of her seat while he frantically texted whoever (probably who they were meeting in Chelsealand). Tbh I see alot of these type of people on the 111 often..
Then the guy on the Red Line who was tweakin.. it was so obvious. he was picking at himself and couldn't sit still.
And its not just drugs... general weirdos and homeless. Someone has set up shop in an alcove on the northbound orange line platform at North Station overnight. Always beer cans or a blanket.
Or the white dude I see on the orange line with dreads .. he has dreads because he's do dirty. He would greatly benefit from a shower or at least getting caught in a rainstorm at a minimum. Ripped clothes, black finger nails and all.
I am trying not to demean people but after a while you kinda get tired of it, and it wasn't always this bad. Yeah TPD can 'move them along' but to where?
Our city has issues that we really needed to address like yesterday. There was an article on WHDH's website stating Boston now has the nation's second largest homeless problem. That's uhh not good by any stretch. Add a opioid epidemic and this isn't good at all.
The T is just a microcosm of socio problems.
I wish you were right, but...
October 8th is only two months from now.
By jove, you're right
The DA said 90 days, which probably relates to his bail being revoked on the earlier charges. Oct. 8, though, is when he's next due in court, for a pre-trial hearing, not a bail hearing. Fixed.
About time he got jail time ….c
… and the public safe from him for a bit.
Would be still be roaming
Would be still be roaming free if only did this outside of TP jurisdiction, like in Boston Common or Downtown Crossing
Oh good
I was wondering when this site's resident public wanker would show up
Send him to New York.
Send him to New York.

Ick!
That guy sounds gross.
Yeah!
.
a common MO
where the inbound and outbound platforms are within sight of each other and the station is often relatively empty. Shawmut was another flasher location.
Another thing is a guy driving around without pants on and pulling over and asking a woman for directions.
I once heard Judge Sydney Hanlon, now an Appeals Court judge in semi-retirement, lecturing a prosecutor who didn't agree to a plea bargain, and wanted to give a harsh sentence to a flasher.
She said that in her time as head of the Middlesex DA sexual assault unit she learned that the statistics showed that flashers don't escalate their sexual crimes to more harmful acts and don't touch. Flashing is their thing and that's that.
