Bill Spero reports the Massachusetts Gaming Commission has vote - by 3-2 - to prohibit Massachusetts sports-betting outfits from offering bets on the winner of the coin toss that starts the Super Bowl - as well as derivative bets, for example, on whether the winner of the coin toss wins the game The majority said the issue is not that they have a problem with coin-toss bets but that operators brought up the idea too late for the commission to give it the sort of deep thought it needs.

Legislator logic
Bet $50 on a 1 in 2 chance on a coin flip: The sports books we legalized last year didn't give us enough money in contributions, so we're going to sit on this.
Buy a $50 scratch ticket with 1 in 4 odds: Don't just sit there! Our wealthy towns rely on revenue from the poor cities! Contribute early and often! Run, don't walk to the store to buy several of those tickets!

I didn't need for government to tell me that's a stupid wager: Both sides would inevitably be -105. Taking juice is okay if you think the proposition should be -110 or less, but it's a (expletive) coin. It's a +100 proposition. The entire public loses.
I'll never understand the national anthem length prop either: The outcome is wholly dependent on a single person, who could themselves wager incrementally on the under, and then race through the song.
